FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BOTOX:
WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE FOR BOTOX?
BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Dysport™(abobotulinumtoxinA) are FDA approved medicines for treatment to temporarily improve the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet lines in adults.
WHO CANNOT HAVE BOTOX?
Patients who are pregnant or nursing should not have the treatment. Patients with muscle or nerve conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should not have the treatment.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT TO SEE WHEN MY BOTOX RESULTS?
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 4 months.
LASER:
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER HAVING HAD NON-ABLATIVE LASER REJUVENATION?
Redness caused by the treatment can be camouflaged by makeup without any negative effects. The treatment area should be kept well moisturized. Patients should avoid sleeping on the treated area to prevent prolonged swelling. Cold compresses can be applied to alleviate pain. Sun exposure should be avoided after the treatment. Broad spectrum sunscreens of at least SPF 45 should be applied daily.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
Results typically last 6-12 months.
IS NON-ABLATIVE LASER REJUVENATION PAINFUL?
A topical anesthetic is usually applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Pain is usually minimal.
PRP:
WHAT IS PRP?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is plasma with many more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The concentration of platelets — and, thereby, the concentration of growth factors — can be 5 to 10 times greater (or richer) than usual.
HOW DOES PRP WORK?
Although it is not exactly clear how PRP works, laboratory studies have shown that the increased concentration of growth factors in PRP can potentially speed up the healing process.
